Board Rules These are the official rules for Magical Adventure. Please stay aware of them and obey them. Breaking the rules may result in the removal of house points and detentions. Repeated rule-breaking may result in suspension or even expulsion from the school. Should you have any questions about any of these rules, please PM, The Admin Team.
All decisions of an administrator are final. No amount of whining will get us to change our minds. This is extremely important. Read it. Memorize it. Read it again. Follow it.
We reserve the right to sort your character in whatever house and year we feel fit. Your role-play sample is where the pressure is; you must be able to show up your ability. This is how we determine what year you should be sorted in. We are also able to switch your house if we feel you are not doing justice to the house we’ve previously put you into. Therefore if, in your registration form, you described a Slytherin and we put you there, you need to continue to act that way or you will be removed from Slytherin and placed elsewhere.
Character Creation
Relationships - Please remember that this board has a PG13 rating and there are some young teenagers here. There is one board specifically geared for our older students, is password protected, and admittance is limited. Read More on Pandora’s Box in the Special Boards Section. Every type of shipper (shipper = relationship-per) is allowed on this website, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so please don't post rude comments to each other. If so, you will be sent a warning, and if you do so again, you'll be banned.
Role-Play Etiquette
Whatever you do make sure that you are never guilty of the dreaded O.L.D (One Liner Disease.) Let’s face facts folks, if you’re going to spend a few extra minutes writing out a paragraph or more long post there’s nothing more disheartening then receiving an O.L.D quote (especially a bad grammar misspelled one) in return. It makes you feel like the person didn’t put in the same effort that you did. This is one way of getting yourself banned.
Note: posts that are considered as spam, that are too short, or are bad role-playing will be deleted by the moderators without explanation, since we expect everyone to be aware of the rules.
You must role-play in third person, “story book” format. It makes it easier for all of us to read.
Magical Abilities
In Rowling’s magical universe, magical powers, devices, and sometimes pets are very rare and in the case of magical devices and pets, they can be very expensive. In order to keep these things rare, not everyone can have one. You may request in your registration form that your character has a magical heritage (Metamorphmagus, Elf, Veela, etc.), magical power (animagus, seer, parselmouth, etc.) or magical devices or pets (Phoenix, Pensieve, Invisibility Cloak, etc) but the approval of these special features is at the sole discretion of the character development team(aka Admin Team). Also, unless you have permission from the administration team, it is strictly forbidden to change your abilities or give your abilities to someone else. (Werewolf or Vampire bites) I can tell you already that the number one reason for denial of a special feature will be that we have enough already.
- Please Note: We are no longer accepting Vampires, Werewolves and Japenese Characters, as we have way too many of them running around. This may open up again in the future, but as of right now, they will not be accepted as new characters.
Special Boards
The Forbidden Forest is considered a Lethal Board – the creatures that inhabit the Forbidden Forest are often riled by wandering students, and you are likely to be severely attacked or even killed if you enter. If your character is caught by a vicious creature in this board then you consent to their possible harm or even demise. You have been warned.
Pandora’s Box is only available to those at a 6th or 7th Year Level – Pandora’s Box is where the adult content* is hidden away from innocent eyes. It is password protected and those wanting to gain access must contact an admin and meet the requirements. This is the ONLY place where adult content is allowed to be posted throughout the forum. Once your thread has surpassed the PG13 level, it must either stop or move. Younger students are reviewed on a case by case basis and may be allowed to enter Pandora's Box pending admin approval. All administration decisions are final.
*Adult Content – Foreplay and Making Out is allowed in the regular sections of the school and is not considered Pandora Material. The act of the sex itself, should you wish to further your role-playing experience, must be written in Pandora’s box. If you do not meet the requirements, don’t think just because you start such a thread you will be allowed to enter Pandora’s Box. You will not.
The Examination Hall is an important place for 5th and 6th Years – Characters are sorted into specific years and those wishing to move up a year visit the Examination Hall. Fourth years can become Fifth years after a school year is completed and a Professor has given permission for you to do so. The Professor must send an owl to the Admins stating their approval for the student to move on. If you’re a 5th year wishing to progress into a 6th, you must take your O.W.Ls. You must get at least an A (Acceptable) in order to move forward. Those that score an (E) Exceeds Expectations or an (O) Outstanding will gain special privileges. If you’re a 6th wishing to progress into 7th, you must take the dreaded N.E.W.Ts. This is a harder exam that takes more creativity and the student has to make a (E) Exceeds Expectations or an (O) Outstanding. (A) Acceptable will not be considered a passing grade. These are real tests and we take them seriously.

Advertising & Affiliation
It is in no way allowed to advertise your own, or other people's sites, in our forums, through private messages, in signatures or in personal texts. Breaking this rule will get you banned! However, there is a place for a link in your profile that you are welcome to use.
Quality sites may apply to become our affiliates. You can send your application (found in the member to member section) to one of the Admins. But kindly do not bug the Admins, moderators or other members about this in any way besides that one OWL to an admin.
If you have any questions please feel free to Owl any of the Admins and we will gladly try to help you understand why such changes have been made.

Character Creation
- Upon registering, you should modify your profile and include some necessary information such as your character's name. You may not leave your name as that you registered with - names like "Doggygurl18b04" will not be accepted. Instead, you must have the name (first and last) of your character. If you need help thinking of a name, check out a site like baby names.com.
- We do not, and will not, accept character's names/histories from other books, movies, anime, bands, ect. We strive for originality and copying another's work isn't original. You can have the first name of your favorite movie character (within reason, lets not get ridiculous) or perhap you like the last name more. But you cannot have the first and last name.
- You must create an avatar for your character. It can be a celebrity or someone you found off of Google, but please use someone that isn't already being used and that looks as if they belong in Hogwarts. To find out if a particular celebrity is available please check the Celeb Claim List. Also in this section is a thread where you can request that someone else make an avatar for you, so there is no excuse for you not to have one.
- No Anime!
- You are allowed to create only one new character every two weeks. Special circumstances may allow you an exception from this rule, but exceptions are granted on a case-by-case basis.
- There is a limit of characters you are allowed to have at one time. The limit is 10, while this may seem like an extreme number to some; it’s quite difficult to others. The only way in which you are allowed to have more than 10 is by obtaining special permission from an administrator.
- Despite not having cannon student characters, we try to keep our board as cannon compliant as possible. This means that we try to keep things as close to JK Rowling’s universe as possible, although some exceptions do exist. We are still a Harry Potter based role-play and you should remember that when creating your character.
- We will choose the year or how old your character will be. Based on the original sample role play that you fill out in the registration form the Admins will decide where your character would fit in the best. Fourth year is now the youngest allowed on the site and Seventh year remains the highest. We feel that this will give you the opportunity to expand your writing abilities with others, while those that are at a higher or lower level can continue to grow themselves as well.
A Fourth year and a Seventh year isn’t going to be the normal relationship, friend or otherwise. It is up to the Sixth or Seventh year to decide if they wish to Role-play with a younger year. Younger years have to respect that the older students sometimes have complex plot lines that deserve a proper response. Unless given permission, a younger year shouldn’t take it upon themselves to reply to such a thread.
- Some houses are quite popular, and if placed there we will be following your character to ensure that they are displaying the appropriate characteristics for of that house. If we feel you are not doing justice to your house, we reserve the right to remove you and place you else where if it is deemed appropriate.

Role-Play Etiquette
- Read the entire thread - If you're going to jump into a thread, be aware of what's going on. Know who is in the room or who is involved in the situation. Know what happened before, not just what's going on at the moment.
- Take your time - It’s ok if your reply is a day or two behind. Taking a moment to carefully think out a proper reply is a courteous way of letting the other person know you are at least trying. Also it’s always good to re-read your post and spell check them before submitting them.
- Spelling & Grammar - All words should be properly spelled out and spelled relatively correctly (mistakes do happen). We strongly recommend typing your reply in Microsoft Word first; it will catch most mistakes for you. If you still cannot get Basic English grammar down then we will assume that you are MUCH too young to be posting on this board and ban you.
- Stay in Character - Many people read the threads around the board. We’ve all been victim of OOC in the midst of a post, but seriously no one wants to know about what happened in your day during what’s suppose to be a role-playing thread. There are areas for such talk to take place whether it’s through PMs, IMs, or for a quick note, the Chat box conveniently at the bottom of the site.
- No God-Modding - You are not God and therefore cannot make others do what you want within your post. Stick to only the actions your character will make and let others reply with their reactions. The exception to this rule is if both characters in the scene belong to you, or if you have special permission from the owner of the character allowing you to dictate how their character’s actions.
- Swearing - The board has no official rules prohibiting swearing, but please let’s keep it to a minimum. We would like our character’s speech patterns to be authentic (sometimes “drat” and “heck” just don’t cut it) but if strong language starts to become a problem, then we will be forced to turn the language filter back on.

- When you register, you have 1 week to become sorted and to get your profile to comply with the storyline. If you aren't sorted and don't post within then you may be removed from the site. Those who have a position (Head Boy, Head Girl, Prefect, Professor, Quidditch Captain, Quidditch Player) must stay relatively active or they risk losing their position.
- We have a two months inactivity checks. That means members who have not logged on in the last 60 days are deleted. Members need to be aware of this. Especially if you're gone and suddenly come back to find your names are deleted. This is the reason why. If we are not told anything, the administration will delete said accounts.
- Since you've obviously gotten this far into the rules, you're one of the special people who actually care about keeping the site moving. The word you need to remember when filling out your form is Dudley. Also, contact the main admin and you will receive five house points, after you've finished reading the rest of the rules of course.
- If you suddenly find yourself swamped with homework, grounded, without internet, on vacation, etc. please let us know that in the “Away, Vacation, ETC.” thread located in the “Member to Member” out of character section.
